In a new development in the series of legal cases pursuing Moroccan YouTuber residing in Canada, Hicham Jerando, the lawyer of the Wali (Governor) of Tetouan Security, Mohamed Loulidi, has filed an official complaint against him before the Moroccan judiciary. Jerando is accused of public insult and defamation, as well as spreading and distributing false claims aimed at defaming the complainant.
The complaint follows a systematic campaign launched by Jerando on his social media accounts, where he published two video clips containing false allegations mixed with expressions of public insult and defamation against the Wali of Tetouan Security. The intent was to undermine Mohamed Loulidi’s position and to take revenge through him on the security institution he represents.
The complaint included two inspection reports prepared by a judicial commissioner, documenting the content of the two videos, in which Jerando accused the complainant of involvement in a criminal network specializing in international drug trafficking.
Following this complaint, the Public Prosecution ordered the opening of a judicial investigation to be added to the ongoing file against Hicham Jerando at the National Judicial Police Division. Jerando is already subject to several arrest warrants issued by this division for crimes including insulting constitutional institutions, organized bodies, and public officials during and because of their duties, defamation, extortion, and spreading false claims.
This development comes amid the heavy accusations against Jerando, who was recently sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison for his involvement in forming a terrorist gang and inciting the assassination of the former Public Prosecutor at the Casablanca Court of Appeal, Najim Bensami. His criminal activities on social media have sparked widespread calls from Canadian authorities to put an end to his actions and to activate international judicial cooperation for his extradition to justice.
