Minister of Health Leads Ceremony Welcoming Moroccan Hajj Medical Mission and Announces New Measures to Enhance Pilgrims’ Care

On Monday morning, Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amin Tahrawi, presided over the official welcoming ceremony of the Moroccan medical mission that will accompany Moroccan pilgrims during the 1446 Hijri Hajj season, held at the Ministry’s headquarters.

According to an official statement from the Ministry, the mission includes 82 members, comprising doctors, nurses, and administrative staff — 44 from the Ministry of Health and 38 from the Royal Armed Forces’ health services — in a joint coordination to provide comprehensive health services for Moroccan pilgrims.

On this occasion, the Ministry unveiled a new digital application that allows real-time tracking of pilgrims’ health conditions and facilitates rapid medical intervention in case of emergencies. This initiative aims to boost the effectiveness of medical responses during the pilgrimage.

In his address to the mission members, Minister Tahrawi praised the humanitarian and national responsibilities awaiting them, stressing the importance of carrying out their duties with dedication, selflessness, and integrity to ensure the physical and mental well-being of Moroccan pilgrims. He emphasized that the mission members are not only representing their institutions but also the values of Morocco in one of the holiest religious gatherings.

The Minister confirmed that the medical mission will cover various aspects, including prevention, treatment, psychological support, and awareness-raising, and outlined a comprehensive action plan that includes:

  • Setting up 7 fixed health stations
  • Deploying 2 mobile medical units
  • Forming 4 referral teams
  • Establishing 1 dedicated awareness and outreach team

He also noted that the mission has been fully equipped with the necessary human and logistical resources, including medical and biomedical supplies and medications, to ensure efficient healthcare delivery to Moroccan pilgrims in Mecca and Medina.

Additionally, each pilgrim will receive a health kit containing portable devices for measuring blood pressure, blood sugar, and temperature, along with protective gear such as face masks and sanitizers.

The Minister concluded by urging the mission members to embrace the spiritual opportunity that Hajj offers and to remember to pray for the nation, the people, and His Majesty King Mohammed VI, wishing them a blessed pilgrimage and a rewarded effort.
