From a Nightclub to an Isolated Area: A Well-Coordinated Security Operation Led by Intelligence Agencies Leads to the Arrest of a Suspect in a Sexual Assault Case Accompanied by Violence

The provincial judicial police service in Agadir, in close coordination with the General Directorate for National Territory Surveillance, was able, on Friday, May 2nd, to arrest a 34-year-old man suspected of being involved in a case of sexual assault accompanied by physical violence.

According to preliminary investigation data, the suspect, along with another individual, took a young woman from a nightclub in the city during the early hours of last Wednesday morning in his private car. Investigations indicate that the suspect forced the victim to go to an isolated area in the “Aghroud” region, where he sexually assaulted her, causing injuries with a sharp object.

Field investigations led to the arrest of the main suspect in the case, in addition to the seizure of the vehicle suspected of being used to facilitate the commission of these criminal acts.

In a related context, a special unit for assisting women and children victims of violence has been assigned to provide the necessary psychological and social support to the victim. Meanwhile, the suspect has been placed under provisional detention while further investigations are conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, to determine all the circumstances and details of this crime and uncover any other potential criminal acts.

Investigations are still ongoing to identify and arrest the second suspect, who, according to available information, is believed to have been involved in this crime.
