Casablanca Court of Appeal to Begin Trial of Badraoui and Krimine on Charges of Embezzlement of Public Funds and Abuse of Power

The public trial of Aziz Badraoui, former president of Raja Club Athletic, and Mohamed Krimine, former president of the commune of Bouznika, will begin tomorrow, Thursday, in Casablanca, in connection with the case concerning the embezzlement of public funds, forgery, and abuse of power.

This trial comes after the completion of all stages of the investigation into the file, which has received extensive media coverage. The Indictment Chamber of the Court of Appeal had decided to prosecute the accused on charges of “abuse of influence for the purpose of committing an act constituting the felony of embezzlement.” Krimine faces charges under Articles 250 and 252 of the Penal Code, while Badraoui faces charges under Articles 129, 250, and 252 of the Penal Code.

The Public Prosecutor had referred the accused, in addition to another engineer, to the investigating judge after investigations conducted by the National Brigade of the Judicial Police. The investigations included suspicions of financial and managerial irregularities, especially in deals related to the cleaning and red meat sectors. The accused were subjected to investigation on two occasions before the decision to prosecute was taken.
