Minister Younes Sekkouri Presents Official Strike Participation Figures

In a press conference held last night, Younes Sekkouri, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills, provided official data on participation rates in the national strike. He disclosed figures recorded across various sectors, emphasizing that the government employs clear and well-defined criteria for calculating these rates.

According to Sekkouri, the strike participation rate in the private sector stood at 1.4% as of Wednesday, with Thursday’s figures still being processed. In the public sector, the overall strike rate was 32%, with education recording 35.5%, healthcare 33.3%, and the justice sector 30.5%.

Local government authorities reported a strike rate of 26.4%, while public institutions and their extensions recorded 25.9%. The minister emphasized that these figures were derived through precise calculations and stated that the government does not interpret or comment on them but presents them transparently to the public.

Sekkouri reaffirmed the government’s respect for trade unions’ right to strike, acknowledging it as a constitutionally protected right. He also stressed the importance of freedom of expression and social dialogue to maintain a balanced relationship among all stakeholders.
