On Monday, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, received his Senegalese counterpart, Yassine Fall, in Rabat. Fall was carrying a written message from Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to King Mohammed VI.
In a press statement following the meeting, the Senegalese minister praised the “relations of solidarity, friendship, and economic cooperation” between the two countries, expressing her desire to “strengthen them at several levels.” Fall stated that this meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the upcoming Morocco-Senegal Joint Commission scheduled for early 2025, noting that it would be a chance to lay the groundwork for “Moroccan and Senegalese teams to identify areas of collaboration and partnership between our two countries.”
The Senegalese Foreign Minister added that she discussed continental issues with Bourita, as well as partnership matters at the regional and Atlantic levels. The two sides also addressed the Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline project, which was also on the agenda of the talks.
This meeting comes as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Morocco and Senegal, affirming the importance of regional cooperation in multiple areas. These discussions are expected to contribute to advancing economic and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries and enhancing their role in regional and continental issues.
