Taza Municipality Clarifies Misunderstandings Regarding Local Sports Fields Management

In an effort to clarify recent misunderstandings among the local public, Taza Municipality issued a statement on December 20, 2024, addressing certain misconceptions circulating about the management and operation of the community sports fields. This response follows claims made by some associations alleging they were excluded from using the allocated time slots for these facilities.

The municipality’s statement emphasized that the operation of these sports fields is conducted in accordance with established regulations, with each association being granted one weekly session per field. Additionally, Sunday mornings are reserved for organizing training and development sessions for children, girls, and women from surrounding neighborhoods. These sessions are provided free of charge as part of the collaboration with civil society organizations entrusted with supporting the targeted groups.

The statement further clarified that the free sessions are granted based on requests submitted by association leaders, who are required to sign a formal agreement ensuring that these sessions are provided at no cost to the beneficiaries. The municipality also pointed out that some of the associations claiming exclusion had previously benefited from these sessions, including those designated for children, girls, and women in the vicinity of the Jiyarin field.

The municipality reiterated that the use of the sports fields does not involve any financial charges, as confirmed in an announcement by the President of the Municipal Council on June 27, 2024. It was stressed that any attempt to charge fees for using the facilities would be subject to legal action.

In conclusion, the municipality called on any associations or teams claiming the financial exploitation of the sports fields to file formal complaints with the relevant authorities, to allow for legal measures to be taken against anyone violating these regulations.
