Statement
The General Secretariat of the Justice and Development Party, with God’s help and guidance, held an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday evening, 16 Jumada II 1446, corresponding to December 17, 2024, regarding the statements made by the Head of Government about the seawater desalination project in the Casablanca-Settat region, in response to the interventions of parliamentary groups and the general assembly during the monthly plenary session dedicated to public policies on Monday, December 16, 2024.
Whereas the Head of Government confirmed during this constitutional session before the House of Representatives that a specific company obtained the seawater desalination project in Casablanca-Settat, detailing the facts and circumstances, which confirms a case of conflict of interest prohibited by the constitution.
Whereas the Head of Government declared during this constitutional session before the House of Representatives that the government decided to provide public support for this type of investment, while the technical committee for investments “endorsed the opposite on December 10” regarding strategic investment projects related to electric transportation, renewable energy industries, and water desalination projects in Kenitra-Ouazzane, Sidi Bennour-Jdida, and Casablanca-Settat, which clearly contradicts what the Head of Government stated during this constitutional session.
Whereas these statements clearly confirm the Head of Government’s conflict of interest and his clear contradiction regarding public support for this deal, reflecting serious violations affecting transparency, competition, and equal opportunities.
Based on the above, the General Secretariat has decided to hold a press conference at the party’s central headquarters tomorrow, Thursday, December 19, at 11:00 AM, to present details related to this political scandal of the Head of Government, and to alert public opinion to the grave danger of such violations that fundamentally undermine the credibility of institutions and political work, and negatively affect the national economy and principles of free and legitimate competition in economic relations.
Rabat, Wednesday, 16 Jumada II 1446 H / December 18, 2024
