The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to hold an important meeting of its executive committee and member association presidents in Marrakech, Morocco, on Monday, December 16, 2024, just hours before the annual CAF Awards ceremony.
Dr. Patrice Motsepe, CAF President, will chair this meeting, which will discuss the 2025 calendar and other crucial issues. This will be followed at 11:00 AM local time (10:00 GMT) by a gathering of the presidents of the 54 member associations with the executive committee members and the CAF President.
This meeting comes months after the 46th Ordinary General Assembly held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, which saw important decisions made, including setting the date for CAF leadership elections on March 12, 2025, removing the 70-year age limit for presidency and executive committee candidacy, as well as for CAF representatives to FIFA, and eliminating linguistic restrictions on nominations for CAF representatives to FIFA.
In the evening, the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech will host the 2024 CAF Awards ceremony, where the best players, coaches, clubs, and national teams in Africa over the past year will be honored. The highlight will be the announcement of the winners of the African Player of the Year and Women’s Player of the Year awards, along with other categories such as Best Goalkeeper, Best Coach, Best National Team, and Best Club.
This event is expected to draw significant media attention and will be broadcast live on various television channels and digital platforms, allowing football fans across the continent and beyond to follow this grand football celebration.
