The Moroccan Royal Court has announced that King Mohammed VI has undergone successful surgery on his left shoulder following an accident during a routine sports activity.
The incident occurred on Sunday, December 8, 2024, when the King suffered a fall that resulted in an injury to his left shoulder with a fracture of the humerus. This injury necessitated surgical intervention, which was successfully carried out at the Royal Palace Clinic in Rabat.
According to the statement issued by the medical team overseeing the operation, His Majesty’s left shoulder will be immobilized for a period of 45 days, followed by a period of functional rehabilitation.
The surgical procedure was performed by a medical team consisting of Dr. Lahcen Belyamani, the King’s personal physician, and Professors Ali Zine, Salim Bouabid, and Mohammed Benchekroun, who are specialists in orthopedic surgery at the Mohammed V Military Hospital in Rabat.
The statement concluded with a prayer for God Almighty to protect His Majesty the King, grant him a speedy recovery, and bestow upon him continued health and well-being.
