Unions Condemn VECTALIA for Delayed Wage Payments and Broken Agreements in Safi

The Democratic Confederation of Labor (CDT) and the General Union of Moroccan Workers (UGTM) issued a joint statement following their meeting on Monday, December 2, 2024, in Safi, criticizing VECTALIA, the urban transport company, for delaying employees’ wage payments and failing to honor prior agreements signed with the unions.

The statement highlighted that the company declared its inability to pay wages without providing clear justifications, sparking dissatisfaction among workers and union representatives. The unions emphasized that this conduct jeopardizes the stability of essential services provided by the company, including transportation for residents and students.

The unions warned of escalating protests starting Wednesday, December 4, 2024, if the company continues to ignore workers’ demands.

They called on local authorities and the municipal council to intervene immediately to resolve the crisis and ensure the uninterrupted provision of urban transport services while respecting the rights of workers and residents.
