Morocco’s Commitment to Combating HIV/AIDS and Related Diseases by 2030

In its ongoing efforts to care for HIV/AIDS patients across Morocco, the country has established programs serving over 5,000 individuals living with the virus.

Under the theme “Towards a Morocco Free of HIV, Sexually Transmitted Infections, Viral Hepatitis, and Tuberculosis by 2030,” a pledge agreement was signed between the Ministry of Health, the Wilaya of the Souss-Massa region, the Regional Council, and other partners. This initiative aims to significantly reduce infection and mortality rates associated with these diseases by fostering coordination and unified efforts to achieve the desired objectives.

This commitment aligns with Morocco’s National Strategy to Combat HIV/AIDS for the 2024–2030 period, which aims to eradicate HIV as a public health issue. The National AIDS Control Program estimates that approximately 23,000 people live with the virus in Morocco, 94% of whom are receiving appropriate treatment, with a notable achievement in achieving undetectable viral loads among patients.

In line with its dedication to equity and human rights, the Ministry of Health provides free testing and treatment services, reinforcing Morocco’s determination to meet sustainable development goals and ensure a healthier future for all.
