‘Digital Identity’ App: An Obstacle Impeding Free Baccalaureate Registration

In a development that has sparked widespread controversy, numerous free baccalaureate candidates are facing serious registration problems due to technical difficulties with the “Digital Identity” application.

Data revealed that the Ministry of National Education, Primary Education, and Sports has adopted full electronic registration for free baccalaureate this year, abandoning paper files. However, this decision has collided with significant technical challenges.

Many candidates confirmed their inability to download or use the application due to limited compatibility with different operating systems and smartphones. In this context, Mehdi Andadi, a specialized teacher, stated that “the application barely works on a limited number of high-quality smart phones”.

Abdelwajid Ziati, president of the “Moroccan Civil Alliance Network for Youth”, added that this step, which was intended to facilitate procedures, has transformed into a “major obstacle that will deprive many of their right to register”.

According to IT expert Hassan Kherjouche, the ministry is required to “update the application to become compatible with all existing operating system versions on phones”.

Specialists demanded:

  • Updating the application to be compatible with various devices
  • Publishing clear instructions for its use
  • Providing alternative registration methods for those affected

It appears that this digital crisis threatens the hopes of hundreds of free baccalaureate candidates and places the Ministry of Education before a real challenge to ensure fairness and transparency in the registration process.
