Moroccan Royal Armed Forces Prepare for “African Lion 2025” Exercise

The main planning meeting for the “African Lion 25” exercise will be held from November 18 to 22, 2024, at the Southern Zone Headquarters in Agadir, according to a statement from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.

National and international planners will focus during this meeting on organizing the various activities included in the program for the twenty-first edition of the exercise.

The scheduled activities include:

  • Training in operational domains
  • Planning exercise for staff officers
  • Maneuvers between different arms and forces
  • Civil-military operations
  • Drills to counter weapons of mass destruction (nuclear, radiological, biological, and chemical)

The multinational and multi-domain exercise “African Lion 2025” is scheduled to take place from May 12 to 23, 2025, in the regions of Agadir, Tan-Tan, Kenitra, Benguerir, and Tiznit.

The primary objectives of this major exercise are to:

  • Enhance intervention capabilities in a multinational context
  • Develop interoperability between forces
  • Facilitate exchange between the armies of participating countries
  • Promote peace, security, and stability in the region
