Meknes Celebrates Independence Day by Supporting Persons with Disabilities

As part of the 69th anniversary celebrations of the Glorious Independence Day, the Governor of Meknes Province presided over a symbolic ceremony supporting vulnerable populations, which included delivering a school transport bus and distributing wheelchairs.

The province allocated a new school transport bus for autistic children, costing 358,752 dirhams, which will serve the Social and Educational Center in Sidi Bouzkri district. This initiative is part of the National Human Development Initiative’s third phase.

In a qualitative development, the school transport bus fleet dedicated to children with disabilities now comprises 26 buses, of which 23 are specifically equipped for children with disabilities, with a total cost of approximately 9,525,621 dirhams.

Additionally, 300 wheelchairs were distributed, including 200 for adults and 100 for children with special needs, at a cost of 341,784 dirhams, aimed at enhancing the independence of these groups and facilitating their social integration.

These initiatives seek to encourage schooling for children with disabilities and improve their care conditions, thereby enhancing their opportunities for societal integration.
