Yesterday, the city of Casablanca launched the first edition of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Business Forum under the theme “Enhancing Intra-African Trade through Strategic Partnerships.” Organized by Morocco’s Ministry of Trade and the Moroccan Confederation of Exporters, the forum aims to showcase the commercial potential within the AfCFTA and strengthen economic ties between African nations, maximizing opportunities for intra-continental trade.
The forum, attended by representatives from 12 African countries, highlights the significant opportunities offered by this economic zone, as participants discuss ways to establish mutually beneficial partnerships. It also emphasizes Morocco’s strategic position as a central hub in Africa, with Moroccan government directives positioning the nation as a pivotal player in African trade.
A segment of the forum is dedicated to gathering participants’ insights on the national strategy for implementing the AfCFTA and optimizing its benefits.
One of the forum’s main topics focuses on penetrating African markets through targeted strategies and innovative financing mechanisms, as well as supporting intra-African trade to fuel economic growth across the continent.
Participants have the chance to explore funding solutions provided by regional and international organizations, aimed at supporting trade and investment initiatives among African countries.
Additionally, the forum addresses the importance of developing digital infrastructure to streamline cross-border transactions and enhance access to African markets more efficiently.
This forum represents a vital step toward reinforcing economic integration across Africa, aligning with Morocco’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its role as a strategic trade hub in the continent.
Through this event, participants aim to accelerate the implementation of the AfCFTA and advance sustainable economic goals, contributing to the continent’s broader economic development agenda.
