Fes Welcomes High-Level Delegation from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria

The city of Fes recently received a high-level delegation from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, aimed at assessing the efforts being made in public health and the fight against sexually transmitted diseases.

Dr. Salima Saissa, the regional director of health and social protection for the Fes-Meknes region, chaired a meeting with the delegation in the meeting room of the directorate, where they discussed ways to enhance cooperation in implementing the integrated regional plan to combat these diseases.

Dr. Saissa noted that the meeting was part of a review of the efforts made to apply national and regional strategies aimed at combating AIDS and tuberculosis amid ongoing challenges facing the health sector. She emphasized the importance of coordination among all stakeholders to achieve the desired goals by 2030.

During the meeting, presentations were made regarding the progress of health programs, including efforts to combat hepatitis infections and a report on activities related to tuberculosis control.

They also discussed the integrated communication plan for sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS for the 2024-2025 period, reflecting an effective response to the needs of the population.

The meeting was attended by representatives from various health sectors, including the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and centers caring for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.

Participants expressed their determination to achieve tangible progress in combating these diseases, emphasizing the importance of international and local partnerships in this context.

The meeting concluded with a field visit to several health facilities, including the tuberculosis and respiratory diseases diagnostic center in Meknes, demonstrating everyone’s commitment to enhancing public health and disease prevention.

This visit also reflected the Global Fund’s desire to support national efforts and achieve positive results in combating chronic diseases that impact public health in Morocco.
