The Moroccan national futsal team made a strong start in the 2024 World Cup, defeating their Tajik counterparts 4-2 in the match that brought them together on Monday evening at the Hamad Sports Complex in the Qatari capital, Doha.
The “Atlas Lions” managed to impose their dominance on the course of the match from the beginning, translating their advantage into four goals, while the Tajik team managed to reduce the difference by scoring two goals.
National coach Hicham Dguig stated after the match: “We are happy with this strong start in the tournament.
The team performed well and achieved the desired result, but we still have a lot of work to do in the upcoming matches.”It is worth noting that this victory boosts the Moroccan team’s hopes of surpassing their previous achievement in the 2021 World Cup, where they reached the quarter-finals.
This strong performance comes after Morocco’s crowning as the African Futsal Cup of Nations champion in 2020, confirming the remarkable development this sport is witnessing in the kingdom.
The Moroccan team is scheduled to face their Brazilian counterparts next Thursday, in a match that is considered a real test for the team’s ambitions in this world championship.The 2024 Futsal World Cup competitions continue until October 6, with the participation of 24 teams from various continents of the world, where all teams are looking forward to winning the world title in this increasingly popular sport.
