Moroccan runner Fatima Ezzahra El Idrissi achieved an honorable athletic feat by winning the silver medal in the 1500m race (T13 category) at the ongoing Paralympic Games in Paris 2024. The race took place on Saturday, August 31, at the famous Stade de France.
El Idrissi recorded an impressive time of 4:22.98 minutes, securing second place behind Ethiopian champion Tigist Gezahagn Menigstu, who won gold with a slightly better time of 4:22.38 minutes. American Liza Corso came in third with a time of 4:23.45 minutes.
It’s worth noting that Morocco currently ranks 38th in the medal table, thanks to the outstanding performance of several Moroccan athletes. In addition to El Idrissi’s silver, Aymane El Haddaoui won a bronze medal in the 100m race (T47 category), while Ayoub Adouich secured a medal in para-taekwondo (K44 category).
This achievement is considered an important step for Moroccan Paralympic sports and enhances the kingdom’s standing in international sporting events for people with special needs.
