The case of a student enrolled at Al-Dar Al-Hamra Middle School in Sefrou Province has sparked renewed debate after the student’s father spoke to the media, presenting his account of what he described as an “unjustified removal” of his son from the school. He questioned the procedures followed and called on the supervisory authorities to intervene to safeguard the right to education.
In media statements, the father said he had not received—according to his account—any official notice or summons from the school administration regarding his son’s absences or academic status. He added that he first learned of his son’s departure from the school through other students, at a time when the issue was allegedly being discussed during a meeting of the parents’ association without the family being formally informed.
The father considered the absence of official communication with the family to be, in his view, a breach of established administrative management rules, particularly in matters affecting a student’s educational pathway.
In this context, he referred to a meeting he said he held with the school principal, during which—according to his account—he was told that his son “would leave the school.” He argued that such a position raises questions about the legal basis for decisions of this nature, calling for strict respect of the educational and administrative frameworks governing schools.
Commenting on a previous statement issued by the Educational Administrators’ Union, which maintained that the measures taken fell within legal procedures, the father rejected these claims. He insisted that he had not received any official document proving that correspondence had been sent to the family. He further stated that he attempted to transfer his son to another school, but was informed—according to his account—that a school principal does not have the authority to expel a student and that the principle should be continuity of schooling within the original institution.
The father also addressed the social dimension of the case, explaining that his son comes from a rural background and must walk a daily distance to reach school transport, often under difficult climatic and geographic conditions. He said the situation had compounded the family’s psychological and social hardship.
In light of these developments, the father announced that he had filed a formal complaint with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool Education and Sports, requesting the opening of an administrative investigation into the circumstances of the case, measures to ensure his son’s return to school, and protection of his constitutional right to education, along with redress for the harm suffered.
The administration of Al-Dar Al-Hamra Middle School and the provincial directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool Education and Sports in Sefrou remain invited to provide clarifications regarding these claims, in the context of the right of reply and to inform public opinion about the procedures applied in such cases.
