Morocco recorded a strong surge in water inflows over a single 24-hour period (between 27 and 28 December 2025), after the Ministry of Equipment and Water announced that the total volume reached around 117.1 million cubic meters.
Through its “Ma Dialna” platform, the ministry said this outcome reflects the direct impact of recent rainfall across several basins. The Sebou Basin led with inflows of 35.7 million m³, followed by the Oum Er-Rbia Basin with 22.6 million m³, supporting the water-resource situation in both areas.
According to the same data, the Loukkos Basin received nearly 20 million m³, while inflows in the Bouregreg and Chaouia Basin reached about 19.3 million m³, indicating a noticeable improvement in water basins across northern and central Morocco.
As for the remaining basins, Souss-Massa recorded inflows of around 11.2 million m³, Tensift reached 5.8 million m³, while Moulouya did not exceed 1.8 million m³.
In a related development, the ministry said rising water levels led to spillway discharges at several dams, namely: Nakhla, Chefchaouen, Cherif Al Idrissi, Bouhouda, Sebou, Sidi Idriss, and Sidi Said Maachou. The ministry considered this a clear sign of improved reservoir storage at these facilities in recent weeks due to heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology reported varying rainfall totals over the past 24 hours, topped by Ifrane (28 mm), followed by Rabat (26 mm) and Kenitra (22 mm). It also recorded 19 mm in Sidi Slimane and Nouaceur, and 16 mm in Mohammedia and Meknes.
Rainfall totals of 15 mm were recorded in Salé, Casablanca, and Benslimane, compared to 14 mm in Settat, 13 mm in Taza, 12 mm in Chefchaouen, 11 mm in Tit Mellil, and 10 mm in Benguerir. The figures reached 9 mm in Khouribga and Fes, 7 mm in Larache, El Jadida, and Beni Mellal, 6 mm in Tangier and Essaouira–Airport, and 5 mm in Taroudant, Marrakech, Al Hoceima, and Safi.
By contrast, 4 mm were recorded in Guelmim, Bouarfa, and Essaouira–Port, 3 mm in Tiznit, Tetouan, Oujda, Midelt, Agadir, and Inzegane, 2 mm in Taourirt and Sidi Ifni, and 1 mm in Tangier–Port, while Nador and Tan-Tan recorded less than 1 mm.
