Sefrou Province: Residents of Ighzrane and Bouiblane Launch Distress Call Due to Closure of Regional Road 504 and Demand Urgent Intervention from Ministry of Equipment

Fes News – Exclusive, December 4, 2025

Citizens from the Ighzrane and Bouiblane areas in Sefrou Province have launched, through the “Info El Menzel News” page, a new distress call denouncing the chronic neglect of road networks in mountainous areas, particularly Regional Road No. 504 connecting Ighzrane and Bouiblane, which has become completely cut off due to water overflow after every rainfall.

Boujemaa Boudra, one of the region’s activists, confirmed in a widely circulated Facebook post that this road section:

  • Lacks a real bridge capable of withstanding water flow
  • Does not even have simple water drainage channels
  • Transforms into a massive muddy pool preventing passage of cars and trucks for days or weeks
  • Completely isolates the villages of Bouiblane during winter, preventing citizens from accessing markets, hospitals, and schools

The activist added in his impactful post: “How can we want sustainable development for the province, how do we encourage its people to settle there, how do we promote mountain tourism, and how do we valorize these areas with stunning natural landscapes and Bouiblane snow, when we witness the utmost forms of marginalization? The deplorable state of the El Menzel-Sefrou road is stark proof of this.”

Boudra directed a direct appeal to officials: “This is a call to every patriotic official with conscience—you are entrusted with these interests and will be questioned about them before God, so prepare an answer for the question.”

Wide Interaction and Solidarity from Provincial Residents

The post received significant interaction, exceeding thousands of shares and comments, and many local and regional pages republished it, expressing the same anger and frustration over the recurrence of this problem every year without a fundamental solution.

Several commenters also noted that:

  • Regional Road 504 is considered a lifeline for dozens of mountain villages
  • The Bouiblane area possesses enormous tourism potential (snow, forests, natural landscapes), but the absence of infrastructure turns it into a forgotten region
  • The problem of this road’s closure has been recurring for more than 15 years without a real bridge or permanent engineering solution being included in Ministry of Equipment programs

The newspaper remains committed to following this vital file and publishing any official response or emergency intervention program that may be announced by the responsible authorities, especially with the approach of winter and snowfall in the Middle Atlas Mountains.

The call from the people of Bouiblane and Ighzrane remains pending… Will it find someone to respond to it this year?
