Private Security Guard Sentenced to Three Years in Prison for Theft of Computers from Pioneer Schools in Fes

The Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Fes issued a final verdict this week in the case related to the theft of laptops allocated to educational institutions under the Pioneer Schools program, sentencing a private security guard who was in custody to three years in prison, after examining the file and evaluating the available evidence.

The details of the incident date back to the reported disappearance of a group of laptops – numbering 16 devices – from inside the headquarters of the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports in Fes, which triggered a state of security alert at the administrative facility.

Judicial police officers, supported by the Scientific and Technical Police Service, conducted extensive investigations that resulted in the arrest of the suspect, who was charged by the Public Prosecutor’s Office with “theft accompanied by circumstances of breaking in, climbing and using forged keys,” in addition to “aggravated theft against the employer.”

As part of the investigative efforts, security services succeeded in recovering the vast majority of the stolen devices, with the remainder found inside the accused’s residence, based on precise field inspections and analysis of surveillance camera recordings installed at the directorate. This ruling represents an important judicial step in strengthening transparency and protecting public property, especially in the education sector, which relies on such projects to enhance educational quality.
