Marrakech: Lucas Philippe Elected New Interpol President.. Special Thanks to Morocco and Promise of “More Balanced and Influential Interpol”

Marrakech – November 27, 2025

Today, Thursday, in the closing session of the 93rd Interpol General Assembly in Marrakech, Chief Inspector Lucas Philippe, Advisor for European and International Affairs at the General Directorate of the French National Police, was elected as the new president of the International Criminal Police Organization, succeeding Emirati Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi.

Immediately after the results were announced, the new president delivered a moving speech in which he gave Morocco special and profound thanks for its decisive support of his candidacy, saying: “I am very happy, not only because I was elected, but because our ideas and shared commitments were elected… and foremost among the countries that supported me is Morocco, for which I have great appreciation that goes beyond the mere election, it is a shared victory.”

He also praised the exceptional level of Moroccan organization of the General Assembly, describing it as “amazing,” and confirmed that it will have a “special resonance” throughout his professional life.

New Interpol President’s Priorities:

  • Balance between continents and field work
  • Focus on human capital and technology control
  • Creating “tangible impact” instead of theoretical speeches
  • Considering organized crime a global threat no less dangerous than terrorism
  • Refocusing Interpol on issues directly present and affecting citizens
  • Holistic approach bringing all countries together around shared goals

Lucas Philippe concluded his speech saying: “I am French, European, but above all I am an Interpol officer… and I know that I can always count on Morocco in this beautiful story that brings us together.”

The election of Lucas Philippe marks the return of European presidency to Interpol after 24 years, and reflects the great confidence in the Moroccan vision for strengthening international security cooperation and geopolitical balance within the organization.
