Marrakech: Interpol Awards Abdellatif Hammouchi Its Highest Decoration of Superior Class in Historic Ceremony

Marrakech – November 27, 2025

The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) today decorated the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Mr. Abdellatif Hammouchi, with the Interpol Medal of Superior Class, the highest honor issued by the organization to distinguished international figures.

The decoration ceremony took place during the closing session of the 93rd Interpol General Assembly held in Marrakech, in the presence of:

  • Interpol President Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi
  • Secretary General Mr. Valdecy Urquiza
  • Executive Committee members
  • More than 800 delegates from 179 countries

The organization stated in its official announcement that awarding this prestigious medal comes: “In recognition of the exceptional efforts made by Mr. Abdellatif Hammouchi to strengthen security and stability at regional and international levels, to establish the values of partnership and solidarity between Arab countries and Interpol, and in appreciation of his steadfast commitment to supporting international cooperation in law enforcement, and his effective contribution to building a safer and more just world.”

Interpol also praised Hammouchi’s distinguished leadership role in:

  • Strengthening Arab and international security cooperation
  • Combating transnational organized crime
  • Supporting joint action pathways between Arab countries and Interpol

This decoration is considered the highest in Interpol’s history for an Arab and African security official, and comes as a culmination of the pivotal role played by Moroccan security services in international cooperation, and Morocco’s success in hosting the largest global gathering of police chiefs in 2025.
