CAF Awards 2025: Moroccan star Doha El Madani wins African Young Women’s Player of the Year 2025

Morocco completed its historic domination of the CAF Awards 2025 as 20-year-old striker Doha El Madani, player of AS FAR (Royal Armed Forces and the Moroccan women’s national team, was crowned African Young Women’s Player of the Year 2025 during the annual gala held on Wednesday evening in Rabat.

With this victory, Doha El Madani became the fourth Moroccan to win a major individual award on the same night – joining Achraf Hakimi (Men’s Player of the Year), Ghizlane Chebbak (Women’s Player of the Year), and Yassine Bounou (Goalkeeper of the Year) – bringing Morocco’s total to an unprecedented five trophies in a single ceremony, a record never achieved before in the history of the awards.

The promising forward, who enjoyed a breakout 2024-2025 season with AS FAR and across various youth categories of the Atlas Lionesses, imposed herself through her blistering pace, clinical finishing, and outstanding technical and physical impact, confirming her status as one of the brightest rising talents on the African continent.

2025 Goal of the Year goes to Tanzanian Clement Mzizi

In another category, Tanzanian striker Clement Mzizi of TP Mazembe (DR Congo) won the African Goal of the Year 2025, beating notable contenders including:

  • Osama Lamlioui (Renaissance Berkane, Morocco)
  • Ghizlane Chebbak (Morocco women’s national team captain)

The award, decided by a combination of public vote and the CAF Technical Committee, was clinched by Mzizi’s spectacular strike in a CAF Champions League match that captured the widest admiration.

Doha El Madani’s triumph further strengthens the rapid rise of Moroccan women’s football on the continental stage and positions her as an inspiration for the next generation of Moroccan and African female players. The award also highlights the success of Morocco’s heavy investment in youth development and women’s football infrastructure.

The ceremony, held at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, was attended by high-profile figures including FIFA President Gianni Infantino and CAF President Patrice Motsepe, and featured artistic performances by leading African and Moroccan stars.
