Police Inspector Temporarily Suspended from Work and Placed in Custody on Charges of Extortion and Bribery

Agadir – The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced on the evening of Friday, November 7, a decision to temporarily suspend a police inspector from work, who works at the Regional Police Commissariat in the city of Oulad Teima, on suspicion of involvement in extortion and soliciting a financial bribe, pending completion of ongoing judicial proceedings.

Details of Disciplinary and Judicial Procedures

This disciplinary decision, which complies with the provisions of the basic statute of employees of the General Directorate of National Security, comes in parallel with the opening of a judicial investigation by the Judicial Police Regional Service in Agadir, under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office. The person concerned was caught in flagrante delicto while receiving a sum of money as a bribe from one of the parties in a criminal case.

The suspected police inspector was placed under police custody pending investigation, in order to clarify all circumstances and details surrounding the case. Investigation procedures are also continuing to verify the possibility of another police officer’s participation in or contribution to these criminal acts.

Context of Combating Corruption within the Security Apparatus

These swift measures are evidence of the General Directorate of National Security’s commitment to the principles of integrity and transparency, and strengthening internal oversight to combat any professional misconduct. It should be noted that such cases, despite their rarity, are handled firmly to maintain citizens’ trust in the security institution.

The investigations are expected to yield accurate results, with the possibility of taking additional measures against any other involved parties, within the framework of strengthening security governance in the Souss-Massa region.
