Morocco and Mauritania Sign Action Plan to Develop Digital Transformation in the Justice System for 2026-2027

In a move reflecting the deep fraternal relations and strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the Moroccan Minister of Justice, Mr. Abdel Latif Wahbi, and his Mauritanian counterpart, Mr. Mohamed Ould Eswedat, signed on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the Ministry of Justice headquarters in Rabat, an action plan for 2026-2027 aimed at enhancing digital transformation in the justice system.

Enhancing Judicial Cooperation and Digitization
This program is part of the shared vision of both countries to modernize judicial administration and develop the justice system through exchanging expertise in digitization, continuous training, and institutional modernization. The plan aims to promote transparency, improve judicial services, and bring justice closer to citizens, according to an official statement obtained by TelQuel.

During the meeting, Mr. Abdel Latif Wahbi affirmed that the program reflects “the shared will to strengthen South-South cooperation and make digital transformation a lever to improve and bring justice closer to the citizen.” He pointed out that common challenges, such as migration and human trafficking, require deeper cooperation and greater coordination between the two countries, emphasizing that “migrants seek to improve their living conditions, and it is our duty to provide them with legal and humanitarian protection.” He also renewed Morocco’s readiness to share its digital and institutional expertise with Mauritania to reinforce fraternal ties.

For his part, Mr. Mohamed Ould Eswedat expressed pride in the level of Moroccan-Mauritanian relations, noting that “the intertwining of interests mandates the creation of new partnerships based on solidarity and integration.” He praised the legislative and democratic reforms in Morocco, expressing admiration for the maturity of its political and constitutional experience.

Commitment to Coordination and Crime Fighting
The meeting concluded by emphasizing continued coordination to implement the action plan, focusing on digital transformation, judicial cooperation, and combatting transnational crime and human trafficking. This cooperation follows the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and those of His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, serving the interests of both countries and strengthening African cooperation based on mutual respect and integration.
