The law strikes with an iron fist: Details of the prison sentence in the Africa Cup of Nations placard piracy case

The Casablanca court recently sentenced a student to one year of imprisonment after being found guilty of hacking the advertising boards for the Africa Cup of Nations and posting an offensive message through them.

The public prosecutor at the Ain Sebaa Criminal Court decided to prosecute the student, “Fakhr Eddine B.,” who wrote insulting and obscene words targeting the national security on the promotional device for the Africa Cup of Nations. He was charged with insulting public officials, unauthorized access to an automated data processing system, and causing disruption and obstruction to it.

The promotional boards for the Africa Cup of Nations, which Morocco will host, were subjected to a cyberattack days ago, during which offensive words were posted, provoking widespread outrage.
