Agadir/ 10 years in prison for a man convicted of vandalism in Inzegane

The Primary Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Agadir issued, today Tuesday, October 7, 2025, a sentence of ten years’ imprisonment against a suspect involved in riotous and destructive acts that took place in the city of Inzegan.

The suspect was prosecuted on serious charges under Articles 581 and 594 of the Penal Code, including the use of violence against public officials while performing their duties, resulting in bloodshed; insulting public officials due to their professional work; participating in an armed gathering on public roads; damaging and destroying public property; illegal possession of a weapon; as well as arson and assault against public security forces.

This strict verdict comes amid the unrest witnessed in several cities, primarily Agadir and Inzegan, following youth protests that in certain areas escalated into violent and destructive episodes targeting public and private property.

Earlier, the Public Prosecutor’s Office affirmed that the violence, destruction, and arson affecting properties and individuals after unauthorized demonstrations do not amount to freedom of expression or peaceful protest but instead constitute criminal acts punishable by law with severe prison sentences ranging from 10 to 20 years, and in some aggravated cases up to 30 years or even life imprisonment depending on the legal circumstances.
