Agadir Court Issues First Sentence Against Inciter Using Facebook to Promote Violence in Riot and Vandalism Case

In a judicial precedent, the Agadir Primary Court has issued a four-year prison sentence against an individual who exploited his Facebook page to incite violence during recent riots and acts of vandalism, along with imposing a fine of 50,000 dirhams.

Public Prosecutor Clarifies Circumstances of the Attack on the Royal Gendarmerie Center in Al-Qlaia

During a press conference held in Agadir, Abdelrazak Fattah, the Public Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal, confirmed that the Public Prosecution has opened a comprehensive judicial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault and break-in targeting the Royal Gendarmerie center in the Al-Qlaia area. He emphasized that all involved individuals will be prosecuted according to the Moroccan Penal Code.

Attempt to Seize Weapons and Ammunition at the Gendarmerie Center

The Public Prosecutor explained that the attackers attempted to seize functional weapons, ammunition, and equipment within the center. Consequently, the gendarmerie forces were compelled to use their service weapons in accordance with legal regulations to:

  • Defend themselves
  • Protect public security and order
  • Preserve the safety of individuals
  • Safeguard public and private property

Outcome of the Security Intervention and Investigation Updates

The security intervention resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to others with varying degrees of severity. The Public Prosecutor assured that judicial authorities will continue their investigation and prosecute anyone proven to be involved in acts of violence and vandalism, stressing that the law will take its course to ensure security and stability.
