Since the early hours of this morning, officers from the National Judicial Police have carried out raids and arrests targeting a number of suspects implicated in recent riots and vandalism in several Moroccan cities, notably Salé and Inzegane.
The arrests took place inside the suspects’ homes after investigations relying on surveillance camera footage and videos successfully identified them participating in arson and damaging public and private property. According to available information, these security operations were carried out in close coordination with the competent public prosecutor’s office and based on precise intelligence provided by the General Intelligence Services.
The detainees face serious criminal charges including forming a criminal gang, intentional arson, causing material damage to others’ property, and participating in riots. These offenses are punishable under Moroccan criminal law with severe penalties that can reach up to twenty years in prison, life imprisonment, or even the death penalty if the actions resulted in fatalities. This security campaign underscores the authorities’ determination to firmly enforce the law against anyone proven to threaten public safety and social stability.
