Morocco Hosts the 8th Conference of the Association of Francophone Supreme Courts to Strengthen Judicial Independence and Quality of Justice

The Kingdom of Morocco is hosting the 8th conference of the Association of Francophone Supreme Courts (AHJUCAF) from July 2 to 4, 2025, at the Court of Cassation headquarters in Rabat. The international event brings together high-level judicial delegations representing nearly thirty countries under the theme: “The Ideal Supreme Court.”

Morocco is represented by a prominent delegation led by the First President of the Court of Cassation, alongside judges and judicial officials from various Francophone countries, united by a shared commitment to develop the performance of supreme courts, enhance their independence, and improve the quality of judicial work. The conference serves as a key platform for exchanging experiences and expertise on fundamental issues concerning supreme courts in the French-speaking world.

The conference sessions are divided into three roundtables: the first addresses “The Institutional Status of Supreme Courts and Guarantees of Judicial Independence,” the second focuses on “Preventing Conflicts of Interest, Combating Corruption, Court Administration and Financial Independence, Access to Courts, and Dispute Management,” while the third discusses “Reasoning and Quality of Judicial Decisions, Mechanisms for Their Publication, and Communication with the Public.”

In addition to legal and intellectual discussions, the General Assembly of the association is expected to hold a special session to review organizational matters related to its internal structures and future work plans, aiming to enhance coordination among member courts.

It is worth noting that AHJUCAF comprises 49 supreme courts from French-speaking countries. According to Article 4 of its statutes, the association seeks to strengthen judicial cooperation and solidarity, uphold the rule of law, ensure legal security, and coordinate judicial precedents among its members, thereby positively impacting the quality and independence of justice within the Francophone judicial space.
