The Primary Criminal Chamber for Financial Crimes at the Court of Appeal in Fez has just issued its initial verdict in the case concerning the management of the Sidi Harazem municipality, ruling to acquit all defendants.
According to the verdict details, the court acquitted the former president of the municipality and parliamentarian, Mohamed Qandil, of the charges against him, which included “embezzlement and misappropriation of public funds.”
The initial ruling also acquitted other defendants involved in the same case, who faced various charges such as “misappropriation of public funds” and “receiving benefits in an institution they managed and supervised.”
Furthermore, the court acquitted a defendant identified by the initials (M.A), who was charged with “participation in the misappropriation of public funds.”
This verdict follows multiple trial sessions that lasted several months. It is important to note that this ruling is only a primary judgment, meaning it is subject to appeal by the public prosecution or other concerned parties within the legally prescribed deadlines, thus initiating a new phase of litigation before the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal.
