Morocco Becomes a Regional Hub for Officer Training: Mauritanian Cadets Receive Training in Meknes

As part of strengthening military and developmental cooperation with brotherly African countries, Morocco recently welcomed a group of Mauritanian army officers in the city of Meknes to receive specialized military training, reaffirming the Kingdom’s position as a leading regional center for military education.

An official statement from the Mauritanian army announced that the Military Academy of Various Arms organized a study visit to Meknes for the 41st cohort of active officer cadets, from June 13 to 20, 2025. This initiative is part of the academic program for the 2024-2025 school year and aims to enhance cooperation with Morocco’s Royal Military Academy.

The Mauritanian delegation was led by Colonel Mohamed Al-Amin Sayed Ahmed Abdelmoula, Commander of the Military Academy of Various Arms. The cadets benefited from a comprehensive training program that included theoretical lessons, joint exercises, as well as sports and social activities. The visit also featured guided tours inside and outside the Royal Military Academy facilities, including explorations of the historic and cultural heritage of the cities of Meknes and Fez.

Colonel Abdelmoula praised the quality of the training and the warm reception, expressing gratitude to the Major General commanding the Royal Military Academy in Meknes and to the supervising staff. The visit concluded with an exchange of gifts and commemorative photos symbolizing the depth of bilateral cooperation.

This military cooperation is part of a longstanding partnership between the Royal Armed Forces of Morocco and the Mauritanian army, encompassing exchange visits, joint training sessions, and technical and educational support. Mauritanian officers have been receiving training in Moroccan military institutions since 1970, reflecting the strong defense ties between the two neighboring countries.
