Intensive Preparations for “Operation Marhaba 2025”: 7.5 Million Passengers and 2 Million Vehicles to Travel via 13 Maritime Routes

Transport and Logistics Minister Abdelssamad Qayouh has confirmed that the ministry has launched an exceptional mobilization to ensure optimal conditions for welcoming Moroccan nationals residing abroad, as part of Operation Marhaba 2025. This effort is being carried out in close coordination with all stakeholders to guarantee smooth mobility and high-quality services across all modes of transport.

Speaking during a House of Representatives Q&A session, Qayouh explained that 29 ferries have been deployed across 13 maritime routes, with a weekly capacity of 500,000 passengers and 130,000 vehicles—totaling 7.5 million travelers and 2 million vehicles across 7,800 sea voyages.

Air Transport: Expanded Offering with 2,135 Weekly Flights

In the air transport sector, the Minister announced that 59 airlines have been authorized to operate 2,135 weekly flights connecting to 141 international airports, ensuring sufficient capacity to meet the increasing demand—especially during the summer peak.

Regarding Royal Air Maroc, Qayouh noted that the national carrier will boost its fleet with four additional aircraft, raising total seat availability to 6.6 million, a 700,000-seat increase over summer 2024. This move reflects “the company’s full commitment to national efforts in serving the Moroccan diaspora.”

Open Skies Policy: Tangible Gains

The Minister highlighted that since adopting the Open Skies Policy in 2006, Morocco has seen tangible benefits. Over 50 international airlines, including several low-cost carriers, have established routes to Morocco—expanding air connectivity, particularly with Europe.
