Controversy in Sefrou Over the Legality of Parking Tickets at “Waterfall Park” Station and Calls for Intervention by the Provincial Governor

Fes News received from a local reader a photo of a parking ticket issued at the “Waterfall Park” station in the city of Sefrou, which requires car owners to pay 7 dirhams. The compulsory distribution of this ticket by parking attendants (locally known as “Bardin Al-Ktaf”) has raised widespread questions among drivers regarding its legality, especially given the absence of any official stamp or notification from the local commune responsible for managing this service.

Citizens are questioning whether this ticket is officially recognized by local authorities or if it is an informal measure imposed by the attendants without clear legal backing. This issue highlights the recurring problem of unregulated parking management and the exploitation of public spaces without proper oversight or formal regulation.

Local sources confirm that the ticket lacks any indication of supervision by the local commune or official authorization, which contradicts the regulations applied in many Moroccan cities. New service charters emphasize that tickets must bear the commune’s stamp, include the attendant’s identification and legal pricing, and require attendants to wear a uniform and display their license at the workplace.

In light of these facts, many citizens are calling on the Provincial Governor of Sefrou to urgently investigate the legality of these tickets and the procedures followed in managing parking lots. They stress the importance of adhering to legal procedures and ensuring transparency in managing this public service to protect drivers’ rights and maintain local public order.

It is worth noting that Moroccan courts have previously sentenced individuals involved in “impersonating parking attendants” and “forging and using fake tickets,” underscoring the seriousness of the issue and the need to regulate the sector and involve local authorities in monitoring and management.

The question remains: Is the “Waterfall Park” parking ticket in Sefrou legally authorized by the local commune, or is it an arbitrary measure that burdens citizens without clear legal protection?
