Morocco Aims to Generalize Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in Preparation for the 2030 World Cup

Rabat, Morocco – The Director-General of the Moroccan National Motorway Company (ADM) has unveiled an ambitious project to generalize electric vehicle charging stations across the kingdom’s motorway network. This initiative primarily aims to meet the needs of anticipated visitors during Morocco’s hosting of the 2030 World Cup finals, enabling them to easily charge their electric vehicles during their travels.

According to a report by the motorway company on electric mobility, the company has already established an advanced network of electric vehicle charging stations, with 90 percent of these stations concentrated on the vital Tangier-Agadir axis. The average distance between each charging station on this axis is 26 kilometers, providing almost complete coverage for electric vehicle travelers.

This strategic direction reflects Morocco’s commitment to strengthening the necessary infrastructure for sustainable and green mobility, in the context of increasing interest in electric vehicles both nationally and internationally. It also comes as part of the Kingdom’s preparations to host a global event of the World Cup’s magnitude, which requires providing all necessary logistical services to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for visitors.

This project is a significant step towards supporting the energy transition in the transport sector and encouraging the use of electric vehicles, thereby contributing to reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality.
