Agadir, Morocco – Agadir police arrested on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, an individual suspected of making threats against the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, through social media posts.
This arrest follows a direct complaint filed by the Head of Government himself, accusing the man of “death threats, defamation, and incitement to violence.”
According to the Arabic press, the apprehended individual, a worker in his thirties, had published messages in both Arabic and Amazigh on his personal Facebook page. These publications commented on the current rise in prices in Morocco.
The suspect has been placed in police custody under the order of the competent public prosecutor’s office. In-depth investigations are currently underway to clarify the circumstances and motives behind these controversial publications, and to determine their legal severity.
