Fall of “Al-Radi Empire”: Idriss Al-Radi Sentenced to 4 Years in Prison for Forging Communal Land Contracts

Sidi Slimane, Morocco – The Court of First Instance in Sidi Slimane, today, Tuesday, sentenced former political leader Idriss Al-Radi to four years in prison, following his involvement in a case of forging contracts related to communal lands and disposing of them without legal basis. This ruling marks a strong blow in one of the most prominent real estate corruption cases that have rocked the region.

The verdict was not limited to Idriss Al-Radi alone but also included his brother, Karim Al-Radi, who was sentenced to three years in prison. The court also sentenced two communal land representatives to two years in prison each, and one and a half years for two employees from the Rural Affairs Department at the Sidi Slimane Governorate, indicating a complete network of those involved.

According to the case file, the issue revolves around “fabricating false declarations and statements, and using them to obtain administrative certificates by providing false data, impersonation, and using forged administrative documents.”

This ruling is a significant development in a case that has generated wide controversy given the former defendants’ status and influence in the Moroccan political and administrative scene.

It is worth noting that Idriss Al-Radi, who held prominent political positions, including the presidency of the Agricultural Chamber of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region and membership in the Political Bureau of the Constitutional Union party, failed to attend all trial sessions, which began on July 11, 2023. He merely sent medical certificates to justify his absence, which further fueled suspicions about the case.

This verdict reflects the judiciary’s determination to combat corruption and apply the law to everyone, regardless of their former positions or influence.
