In Implementation of Royal Decision: Moroccan Technical Delegation Visits Damascus for Embassy Reopening Arrangements

Damascus, Syria – In execution of the sublime decision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, to reopen the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Damascus, a technical delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates arrived in the Syrian capital today. The visit aims to finalize the practical and logistical procedures related to reactivating the embassy’s diplomatic activities.

In this context, the Moroccan delegation immediately began extensive discussions with senior officials at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates. The talks focused on the logistical, legal, and diplomatic aspects necessary to smoothly and effectively carry out this operation.

These discussions fall within the framework of implementing the lofty royal directives, which aim to revive the historical diplomatic relations between the two brotherly countries, Morocco and Syria, after a period of suspension.

His Majesty King Mohammed VI had explicitly announced the decision to reopen the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Damascus, which had been closed since 2012, in the sublime speech he delivered to the 34th Arab Summit, held in Baghdad on May 17.

His Majesty the King affirmed in his speech that this measure “will contribute to opening wider horizons for the historical bilateral relations between our two countries and our brotherly peoples,” signaling a forward-looking royal vision to strengthen Arab-Arab ties and advance joint cooperation.
