In a formal address delivered during the official ceremony commemorating the 69th anniversary of the founding of Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), Dr. Mohamed Ben Ali Koman, Secretary General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, expressed deep gratitude for the royal care extended by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the causes of joint Arab security and the continued support provided to the Council of Arab Interior Ministers.
Opening his speech before a distinguished official and diplomatic audience, Dr. Koman conveyed the highest expressions of loyalty and appreciation to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, praising the Sovereign’s unwavering commitment to supporting just Arab causes and enhancing both regional and international security. He affirmed that Morocco, under the King’s leadership, remains a steadfast and sincere pillar of joint Arab security action.
Dr. Koman also extended heartfelt thanks to Minister of the Interior Mr. Abdelouafi Laftit for his ongoing support of the Council’s General Secretariat and its specialized office for civil protection and environmental affairs, highlighting Morocco’s institutional efforts in these critical areas.
In the same context, he praised the leadership of Mr. Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, expressing his appreciation for the kind invitation to attend this important national occasion and for the generous hospitality and warm welcome he received during his stay in Morocco.
He commended Morocco’s consistent efforts to strengthen ties between the police and the community, citing pioneering initiatives such as public outreach events and open house programs that allow citizens to better understand the roles of law enforcement and the immense sacrifices officers make to safeguard the nation.
Dr. Koman emphasized that the security achievements realized by Morocco since the last meeting of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers in Agadir underscore the advanced stature of the Moroccan security apparatus, which has become a model in adopting a modern security approach rooted in respect for human rights and the reinforcement of trust between citizens and the police.
He also praised the decision by the Board of Trustees of the “Prince Nayef Arab Security Award” to grant Mr. Hammouchi the First-Class Prince Nayef Medal for Arab Security, in recognition of his outstanding efforts in advancing Arab security cooperation and ensuring the active presence of Arab security institutions on the international stage.
Dr. Koman further highlighted Morocco’s remarkable success in the field of international cooperation, noting the significance of choosing Marrakesh to host the upcoming General Assembly of INTERPOL and the election of Police Commissioner Mohamed Dkhissi as Vice President of INTERPOL’s Executive Committee for Africa—signs, he said, of the growing global respect for Morocco’s security experience.
Concluding his address, Dr. Koman renewed his thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Morocco—its leadership and people—wishing it continued progress and prosperity under the blessings of peace and stability, and praying for the protection of the country and the enduring grace of security upon it.
