Abdellatif Hammouchi heads a security delegation on a working visit to the Austrian capital, Vienna.

Press Release

The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, conducted a working visit to the Austrian capital, Vienna, from May 6th to 8th of this year, leading a security delegation representing the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) and the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

This visit took place within the framework of the participation of the DGSN and DGST delegation in the proceedings of the 22nd Regional Meeting of Heads of Intelligence and Security Services in the Middle East and North Africa region, in addition to Turkey and Pakistan. The meeting is organized by the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team of the United Nations at the Vienna International Centre.

The participation of the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance in the proceedings of this multilateral security forum reflects the Kingdom of Morocco’s commitment to strengthening regional and international security cooperation, and its keen desire to share its expertise and leading experience in the field of counter-terrorism and transnational crime with all friendly and allied countries and various international partners.

The discussions held during this meeting addressed the evolving leadership structures within the Daesh and Al-Qaeda organizations in light of the loss of traditional strongholds and the growth of new regional branches and affiliates, as well as the general assessment of the threats and risks posed by these organizations at the regional and international levels in the short, medium, and long term.

These discussions also reviewed the analysis of new trends in all matters related to the financial resources, weapons, and logistical equipment relied upon by the “Daesh” and “Al-Qaeda” organizations, including mechanisms for concealing and encrypting funds, in addition to monitoring emerging updates in propaganda, media strategy, and organizational communication methods within these terrorist organizations.

In parallel with these activities organized within the framework of multilateral cooperation, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance held intensive discussions within the framework of bilateral security cooperation relations with the heads of delegations of security and intelligence services from several friendly participating countries, including Qatar, Turkey, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates.

These bilateral discussions reviewed the various security challenges and threats that necessitate strengthening joint action to confront them and neutralize their risks. They also addressed ways to enhance security and intelligence cooperation in a manner that ensures the consolidation of security and the preservation of stability.

This visit reaffirms, once again, the distinguished position and active role played by Morocco in the field of international security cooperation, and also reflects the credibility enjoyed by the Moroccan security services among their regional and international partners as a key actor in the joint efforts to preserve global security and stability.
