The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, represented King Mohammed VI at the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected President of the Gabonese Republic, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, which took place late last week in the capital, Libreville.
The official ceremony was held at the “Friendship Stadium” and was attended by several heads of state, government leaders, parliamentary speakers, representatives of regional and international organizations, and diplomatic delegations from around the world. During the event, President Oligui Nguema took the constitutional oath, marking the beginning of his seven-year presidential term.
Talbi Alami was accompanied at the ceremony by Morocco’s Ambassador to Gabon, Abdellah Sbihi, as part of the Kingdom’s official representation at this significant regional event.
President Brice Oligui Nguema won the presidential election held on April 12, securing 94.85% of the vote.
On the occasion of his victory, King Mohammed VI sent a congratulatory message to the new president, highlighting the strong fraternal ties between Morocco and Gabon and emphasizing the exemplary nature of the bilateral cooperation within the framework of a solid and effective South-South partnership.
In his message, the King also renewed Morocco’s commitment to continue working with the Gabonese Republic to further strengthen these ties and expand areas of cooperation to serve the common interests of both nations.
