Israel Resumes Attacks on Gaza, Death Toll Rises to 413 (Videos)

Israel has vowed to continue its fight against Hamas in the Gaza Strip until the hostages held by the Palestinian group are returned. This comes after a series of intense airstrikes on the besieged enclave, which are considered the heaviest since the ceasefire between the two parties began in January 2024. According to Hamas’ Ministry of Health, these airstrikes have resulted in the deaths of 413 people.

The Israeli government confirmed that the attacks targeted Hamas military sites, stating that this escalation followed the failure of negotiations concerning the next phase of the ceasefire. Hamas, in turn, issued a statement confirming the death of four of its officials, including its prime minister, as a result of the Israeli airstrikes.

The Israeli strikes have sparked widespread international condemnation. Egypt expressed concerns that the escalation could lead to “severe consequences” for the region, while Turkey described the strikes as a new phase in a policy of extermination. Russia and the United Nations also warned of worsening tensions in Gaza. On the other hand, Hamas accused Israel of “backtracking” on the ceasefire agreement, claiming that the attacks are targeting civilians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

This escalation comes at a time when indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas regarding the extension of the ceasefire have stalled. Hamas reiterated its commitment to the ceasefire agreement, while Israel blamed the group for disrupting international mediation efforts led by the United States, Qatar, and Egypt.

Amid these events, the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, with residents enduring ongoing bombardment. The Gaza Ministry of Health confirmed that most of the casualties are women and children, further complicating the humanitarian crisis in the region, which has been under a severe blockade for years.

The situation remains tense, with Hamas demanding an end to the blockade and a halt to the attacks, while Israel insists that the resumption of military operations is due to Hamas’s refusal to release the hostages.
