This morning, Fes News witnessed large-scale student protests in front of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports in Fez. The demonstrators expressed their frustration over the unjustified delay in receiving their compensation for educational work.
Students chanted slogans denouncing what they described as deliberate procrastination in processing their payments. They pointed out that their peers in other Moroccan cities have already received their allowances, making Fez the only city where payments have not yet been made, despite all administrative procedures being completed.
Some protesters highlighted the challenging conditions under which they worked, including enduring harsh weather and continuing their duties during Ramadan. They actively contributed to finalizing administrative files and rectifying errors to accelerate the payment process—only to find their efforts in vain.
Although students had completed all administrative requirements by last Wednesday and were assured that payments would begin on Thursday, they were later informed that the process could take at least two more months. This unexpected delay was deemed illogical and unfair, particularly since all necessary documentation had been submitted and validated.
The protesting students are now demanding clear explanations from the responsible authorities and are calling for the immediate release of their allowances, in line with what has already been done in other cities. They warn that further delays could escalate tensions and lead to continued demonstrations.
