Increasing Economic Dynamism: 5,993 New Companies Boost the Economy of the Fes-Meknes Region in 2024

The Fes-Meknes region has witnessed increasing economic dynamism in 2024, with the establishment of 5,993 new companies by the end of November, according to data from the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property.

These companies include 3,903 legal entities and 2,090 sole proprietorships, reflecting a growing movement in investment and entrepreneurship within the region.

Fes recorded the highest number of new businesses with 2,814 companies, followed by Meknes with 1,945, Taza with 428, Sefrou with 289, Taounate with 186, and Azrou with 177, while Boulemane ranked last with 154 new companies.

In terms of sectors, trade accounted for the largest share of newly established companies at 35.31%, followed by construction, public works, and real estate at 23.26%, and various services at 15.12%. Meanwhile, the industrial, transportation, hotel, and restaurant sectors registered varying proportions. Agriculture, fisheries, and information technology had the lowest contributions, at just 1.99% and 1.65%, respectively.

Regarding the legal structures of the newly created companies, limited liability companies accounted for 40.3% of the total, followed by single-member limited liability companies at 59.4%, while joint-stock companies represented only 0.1%.

At the national level, the total number of newly established companies during the first eleven months of 2024 reached 86,493. The Casablanca-Settat region topped the list with 27,070 new companies, followed by the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region with 12,627, and the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region with 10,007. The Fes-Meknes region ranked fifth with 5,993 new companies.

These figures highlight the vibrancy of Morocco’s economic landscape and the growing enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, underscoring the role of regions in supporting economic development and enhancing the business climate.
