Morocco Elected to the Executive Committee of the Digital Cooperation Organization

Morocco has been elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) during the organization’s fourth General Assembly, held on Wednesday at the Dead Sea in Jordan.

On the sidelines of the General Assembly, the Delegate Minister in charge of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, expressed her satisfaction with this election in a statement to the Moroccan Press Agency (MAP), highlighting that it reflects the significant efforts Morocco continues to make in the field of the digital economy and its ongoing developments.

The Minister explained that these efforts particularly include advancements in cutting-edge technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation projects, and information technology, as well as supporting young entrepreneurs and startups in the digital and AI sectors.

Seghrouchni noted that this well-deserved election will strengthen Morocco’s position within the decision-making body of the DCO and contribute to the development of the organization’s policies and directions. The DCO plays a prominent role in fostering the digital economy and information technology among its member states.

Alongside Morocco, Oman, Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan were elected to the Executive Committee for 2025, alongside Jordan, which will assume the presidency for the current session.

The fourth General Assembly of the DCO discussed innovative solutions to address challenges hindering comprehensive and sustainable development in the digital world, as well as ways to enhance digital cooperation and develop strategies to accelerate global digital transformation. Strategic issues related to digital cooperation among member states were also discussed, aiming to further develop the digital economy and support innovation.

On the sidelines of the General Assembly, the Digital Cooperation Organization presented Digital Prosperity Awards, including one to Moroccan Abdellatif Belmkadem, President of the National Institute for Innovation and Advanced Technology.

The Digital Cooperation Organization was established in 2020 to strengthen collaboration in entrepreneurship, innovation, business growth, and employment in a shared digital economy. Its membership includes Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Bangladesh, Ghana, Pakistan, Cyprus, Djibouti, Gambia, Greece, Nigeria, and Rwanda.
