During a press conference following the government council meeting, government spokesperson Mustapha Baitas revealed key updates on new national investments and a revised government strategy to support employment. These initiatives align with the government’s commitments for the remainder of its term.
Baitas highlighted that the National Investment Committee approved projects worth 134 billion dirhams during its meeting on December 10, 2024. These investments span strategic sectors, including seawater desalination, renewable energy, transportation, tourism, construction materials, electrical industries, railways, healthcare, and the chemical and food industries.
In a subsequent January 29, 2025, meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, the committee approved additional investments in seven key sectors, including tourism, renewable energy, food industries, automotive manufacturing, packaging, lighting products, and service outsourcing. These investments cover 14 provinces and prefectures, with a particular focus on Beni Mellal, Guelmim, and Tan-Tan, reflecting the government’s commitment to balanced regional investment distribution.
Regarding employment, Baitas unveiled a new government approach following extensive consultations with stakeholders in the labor market and relevant government sectors. This approach includes structural reforms aimed at stimulating the labor market and enhancing professional integration.
A key highlight of this plan is the historic allocation of 14 billion dirhams in the 2025 Finance Law to support employment. Baitas emphasized that this unprecedented budget provides a clear institutional framework for tackling unemployment through practical and effective solutions, focusing on sectors with high job-creation potential.
Baitas reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to economic and social reforms, which directly impact the labor market. While acknowledging a slight decrease in unemployment rates, he noted that this signals positive progress resulting from government measures.
