Morocco Launches Ambitious Project to Modernize and Upgrade Bus Stations in Preparation for the 2030 World Cup

The Minister of Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, has revealed details of an ambitious project to modernize and develop bus stations throughout Morocco, as part of preparations to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which the Kingdom will organize in partnership with Spain and Portugal.

The Minister affirmed that his ministry is working to improve the management and services of this vital urban transport infrastructure by providing legal, technical, and financial support to local authorities to establish, rehabilitate, and manage bus stations.

The government’s vision is based on accelerating the digitalization process in bus stations, by launching an integrated information system that connects all bus stations in the Kingdom. This system includes a unified application for bus transport, a website dedicated to online ticket booking and purchase, and a pre-booking system. This step aims to improve services and facilitate passenger traffic.

This modern system will contribute to facilitating ticket purchases through a unified window, managing luggage and shipments, announcing departure and arrival times, as well as administrative and financial follow-up of bus stations. It will also enable officials to analyze data in real-time on traffic, revenues, and expenses, to make adjustments or anticipate future needs.

The project also aims to facilitate traffic by introducing an automated entry and exit control system. This project is expected to contribute to improving the quality of services provided to passengers, providing a more comfortable and safe travel experience, and enhancing Morocco’s attractiveness as a tourist destination.
